questions and answers.
hey guys.
here we go, the popular ones.
q: can i pay cash: our space are first come first serve upon approval of application, so paypal is quick, easy and you pay with a card- YOU DO NOT NEED A PAYPAL ACCT. it is simply an invoice that you pay with your card easily. if you pay cash or check, you have to do so in person and we do not assign you or let you sign up for your space on the map until it clears or we recieve the cash, so paypal is so much easier for us all & for us to keep our systems running smooth.
q: can i share my booth? if you both apply, yes. you CANNOT share unless you and your partner are approved though.
q: is there covering or tents: no. it is a street fair and in the sun/ wind/ elements. you can tent if you have a 10×10 space. if you have a 10×5, you cannot have a 10×10 tent. bring sunscreen and we’ll have some at the front check in as well!
q: how do i become a vendor? please sign up for vendor email list and as soon as you recieve an announcement or see it posted on the site, just apply. to apply see the vendor page, but its easy. send an email and let us know a few basic things about yourself: your business, what you sell, how much your items cost on average, your name, address, email, phone, website and photos if a site is avaialble.
q: how do i sing up for your mailing list or learn about events? click here or send us an email to indiemart@gmail.com.
q: where is the indie mart held? we move it around. it started in my yard and we outgrew that fast. then we moved it to 12 galaxies, but sadly they closed. in the summer’s we try to host them at thee parkside since they are a bad ass (as in good) venue with nice owners, room for bands, a yard, food and fun. this winter we have moved indoors to the independent in western addition. though we started in the mission and always try to have a few a year there still, it’s tough to find a venue where we can keep prices low, offer food and drinks, as well as music. we enjoy moving it around, to keep it fresh and give different neighborhoods the chance to get to know us.
q: as a vendor, do i get tables and chairs? no. you bring your own or rent them. to rent them email us a paypal payment seperate from your payment for your space. tables and chairs are easy to find at thrift stores, target and most large monster style stores like that. be creative…someone brought an ironing board once, newspaper stands, whatever. we don’t define you…get creative with your space. but no, tables and chairs are all you kids. target has rad folding tables now for $50, they are great and they also sell $10- folding chairs.
q: where do i get tents? you are on your own, but you can get them at home depot, target, etc for about $100- get a heavy duty canopy. SF is windy, the light ones will blow away. Have something to hold it down:)
q: do you have fitting rooms? yes, we reccommend you take thier id while they take your product.
q: do you have power: no, its a street fair. there are 1 or 2 spaces that have power in the front, but you must apply for these early and email us. they normally only go to live screenprinting and live sewing. activities:)
q: are there atms? yes!
q: where do i get signage for my booth made? make your own, be diy, use chalkboard paint. if you need official banners made- try copyworld on 3rd street- they are affordable for all marketing materials and who we use. also vista print online is affordable. and vg kids is pretty rad and online as well.
q: do you welcome sponsors? yes, if they areĀ good fit, not too corporatey and support what we support…local business, local folks, small businesses, rock and roll, getting drunk and having a good time while you shop.
q: why are there so many hot girls there? we don’t know but glad to hear it. we also think they are hot guys too..i am thrilled the indie mart has eye candy. and more thrilled that i usually go home with a phone number or two.
q: is it all ages? yes. and enforced on the over 21 to drink. DO NOT BROWN BAG IT! we will kick you out.
q: i really liked a certain vendor there and want to get in touch with them, how do i do that? we have a zine that lists them all grab one or email us:)
q: whay are there dogs running around at the indie mart? they’re cute. why not.
q: when is the next indie mart? we don’t follow a schedule. we try to have them on sundays when we can. they happen every 2-3 months and more in the summer.
q: do you accept credit cards? no. it is up to you as a vendor to handle. thier are awesome apps for iphones and wireless credit machines.
q: how do i pay for my space as a vendor? you should recieve an invoice upon acceptance. your space is not held until you have paid for it, due to past flaky-ness and demand for spaces. we use paypal, which is easy to use and you dont need a big fancy account to pay.
q: how come you never let me in to sell at your event? we try to welcome new vendors for every event. our goal is to offer unique items…wether handmade, local designers, vintage, records, art, stationary, bikes, handmade foods and foodie treats, cupcakes, sweets, records, zines, whatever…nothing is out of the question. as long as it’s unique, style relevant and suits our crowd. we handselect vendors that do well, keep thier inventory fresh and are interactive. we do well with tee shirts, mens and womens, jewelry and lots of good stuff. we like you all, so please don’t be offended if you don’t get in…we have limited spaces and lots of applications. we draw a mixed crowd but the event is rock and roll, a bit edgy. we don’t want to be like every other craft fair.
q: how do i advertise on your site? we aren’t that high tech yet and we wanna keep it indie for now…so maybe in the future. thanks.
