we’re shaking off a nice long winter of hibernation. we had a fun winter of designing the bold italic’s new gigs, adding over 12 new classes to workshop and just getting some nice creative time, but alas the days are slowly warming up and we’re thinking summer & indie marts. so, here we are with 2012 dates for you. if youre new to indie mart or havent been in a few years, well lemme tell ya what we’ve got up our sleeves for year 5:

indie mart street fairs:

we close down a street. we fill that street with 100 vendors or so- handmade, art, vintage, weird oddities, diy workshops, customizable items, the best of locally made, food vendors/ pop ups & some food trucks. thee parkside (kick ass dive bar in the path of indie mart) slings amazing bbq inside and out, while slinging stiff drinks, killer bloody marys & cheap beers. we bring you music- with the citys best djs outside all day long & bands all day, all night inside. the event runs 12-7pm, then we pack it up and head inside for bands & brews with an afterparty/show from 7-10pm. streets lined with bikes, rad people, great local shopping, eating, drinking, music & lots of local color. my idea of heaven.

and something new in our own hood that we love…..

indie mart pop up:

take an regular indie mart. make it smaller and in the western addition/ divis area (my hood that i love). a pop up that’s very curated event with 30-50 of our best vendors, food pop ups & more. each one has its own theme, personality and concept and on the same night of the divisadero artwalk. more to come.

if approved, we will email you with a payment link. once you pay, you may select your space. we approve applications once a week and chose based off the best fit for the crowd, our careful curation and if we like your wares. if you don’t get accepted right away, don’t fret, we often add more vendors closer to the event. if we don’ t think you’re a good fit, we will let you know so we don’t tease ya.

Indian Summer Indie Mart coming Sunday October 9th, 12-7pm

Every fall, most people start thinking about leaves falling, warm coats, scarves and dreamy music, but not at indie mart! We’re back for our Indian Summer full fledged metal & psych rock fest, loaded with short sleeves a plenty, foxy ladies in fringe, summer BBQ, one too many beers and oh yeah, the best part- 100 rad vendors! SF’s only truly local indie design, DIY and music party hits Sunday October 9th from 12-7pm (extended h…ours) at Thee Parkside and all down Wisconsin Street. All the things you love: awesome vendors, all day bands, cheap beers, stiff drinks, photobooth to get wild in, Parkside’s tasty BBQ and tots, all the eye candy, fun and rad shopping you can imagine. Vendors include DIY-ers, makers, designers, screenprinters, illustrators, artists, typographers, vintage, a few carpenters, foodies and some of our favorites like SeedStore, Gangs of SF, Pretty Penny, San Franpsycho, Indosole, Workshop, Black Jet Bakery & about 90 more, with over 30% new vendors to Indie Mart and MORE CLOTHES FOR DUDES. Pass a little green with Workshop SF- making your own terrarium. Lastly, of course the Photo Booth! No sponsors, no lounges, no bs…just more of the good stuff ya like. This is our last outdoor party of the year, so come out and git it while its hot.

Admission is a sliding $3-5. donation, which is a fundraiser for the founder, Kelly Malone’s cancer treatments. Or a $20- donation to her fund gets you admission to indie mart, a rad indie mart tee or tote bag and admission to the afterparty show.
